Thiwanka Ranasinghe progresses to Boxing Semi’s


Sri Lanka’s Thiwanka Ranasinghe has progressed to the Semi-final round of the Men’s 46-49kg Boxing event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games held in Gold coast Australia.

Thiwanka Ranasinghe beat Berry Namri of Vanuatu to reach the Semi-final round.

The semi-finals will be held on Friday, although Ranasinghe will receive a Bronze medal even if he is defeated.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Rumeshika Rathnayake qualified for the semi-finals of the Women’s 200m event.

She finished Round 1 in 23.43 seconds and came in second in Heat 2. Dina Asher-Smith of England claimed the top spot in Heat 2 with 23.28 seconds.
