Ending weeks of speculations, the United National Party has decided not to alter the party leadership during the Working Committee meeting that was held today.

Speaking to NewsRadio Parliamentarian Wijayapala Hettiarachchi said the decision was unanimously reached by the working committee and the Parliamentary group of the United National Party.

MP Hettiarachchi said Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will continue as the leader of the party, while Minister Sajith Premadasa and MP Ravi Karunanayake continue as the deputy leader and the assistant leader of the party respectively.

He stressed all positions will continue till the 30th of April adding however 12 members were appointed through a secret vote of the working committee to hold office after the 30th of April.

The Parliamentarian noted these members will be appointed into other posts or as leaders in the future.
